AI Interrogation Case 002 Gas Station Robbery

Home-all-night alibi versus a car on camera, a ski mask under the seat, and a sudden cash rent payment.

Case 002 Robbery Walkthrough

Case 002 is the gas station robbery brief: the suspect insists they were home all night. Camera and car evidence say otherwise, and the money trail usually finishes the collapse. This is the numbered companion to all cases. If your folder title uses a different crime name, match the objects — car at the station, ski mask, cash to the landlord — not the integer on the tab.

The live TrueTalk AI experience (place 109547184439419, released 2026-08-07) is still solo, about 10 tries, too mean → shutdown, too nice → lies. Case 002 rewards possession chains: vehicle, disguise, unexplained cash. It is closer to Case 001 (object ladder) than to Warehouse Fire’s spatial script on Case 005.

What you must lock before you accuse

Get them to commit to “I never left home.” Write the exact sentence. Then introduce one contradiction per send. If you accuse robbery on try 1, they stonewall and you will spend the rest of the counter repeating “you’re lying.”

Community pressure order that consistently raises the confession bar:

  1. If you were home all night, why was your car seen at the gas station at 11:30 p.m.?
  2. Why was a ski mask found under your car seat?
  3. Where did you get the cash you paid your landlord with?
  4. Why did you suddenly pay your landlord in cash the next morning?
  5. Can you explain how your car and ski mask connect to the robbery?

Treat 11:30 as the common timestamp in public writeups. If your brief prints a different clock, use that clock. The method is timestamp versus alibi, not memorizing a forum number.

Why this case feels “easy” and still fails

The evidence is loud. Players still fail because they:

  • Ask about the mask before the car, so the AI invents a costume-party story with no timestamp to break
  • Skip the landlord cash, which is the motive-adjacent beat that turns “I drove around” into a robbery
  • Soften after the car hit and spend three tries on weather or neighbors
  • Buy +5 tries and then spam the same broken question

Loud evidence still needs order. Rank with evidence priority: camera/car first, disguise second, cash third, full robbery name last.

Try phases

Tries 1–3 — Home map. Where were you. Who saw you. When did you last drive. Do not mention the robbery noun yet unless they volunteer it.

Tries 4–7 — Chain the three objects. Car camera, then mask, then cash. If they explain the car as “a friend borrowed it,” ask who, then return to the mask in their car. Do not follow the friend into a new case.

Tries 8–10 — Close. Quote home-all-night versus 11:30 camera, then demand they admit the robbery in the folder’s words. If they offer “I only drove past,” push once on the mask and the next-morning cash together.

Keep the question planner open so you do not merge mask and cash into one overloaded send.

Tone notes

Case 002 suspects often stay chatty if you stay polite. That is a trap. Chatty plus no objects is the “too nice” fail from too mean vs too nice. You can stay calm and still be specific: “Your car was at the station at 11:30. You said you were home.” Specific is not mean.

Red herrings to ignore

  • Long stories about why they needed cash for groceries
  • Complaints about the landlord’s personality
  • Claims that ski masks are for cold weather only — then ask why it was under the seat after the camera hit
  • Side characters who never appear in the brief

Practice and next cases

After a clear, jump to Case 003 (timeline + wound) or sit a Daily Case cold. If you want a harder possession chain, author a Custom with vehicle + disguise + cash using Custom Cases and the Case Maker pass documented on gamepasses.

Failed runs belong on fail and retry with a three-column log from note-taking: time, place (home vs station), quote.

Case 002 is the “obvious camera” exam. It still fails detectives who skip order. Car, then mask, then cash, then the robbery name. Home-all-night cannot survive all three if you spend the tries on the right nouns.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for AI Interrogation detectives.

What if my brief has no ski mask?

Then you are not on this object set. Rank whatever disguise or tool the folder actually names, and use all cases to pick the matching guide.

Should I mention the landlord first?

No. Lock the car timestamp first. Cash without a place contradiction is easy to explain away.

Is 11:30 always the camera time?

It is the common community timestamp. Use the time printed in your brief if it differs.

Does buying extra tries help here?

Only if you already have the chain written down. Extra tries without order just buy more stalls. See gamepasses and shop.
